With the end of the year approaching, and before I log off for the festivities, I thought I would take a look back at the events and workshops I’ve run this year
The year started with the Creative Business Workshop at Haarlem Mill, where I was joined by a group of wonderful creatives.
Then came the Spring Home, Food & Gift Market, The Roundhouse… after a crazy amount of snow, this year’s event was delayed for a week. Probably one of the most stressful weeks of my self employed career to date, but it turned out perfectly in the end, phew!
After the Spring Market came the Spring Lifestyle Workshop… a collaboration between me and Klara from Birds in the Attic. Held in a gorgeous venue in Derbyshire, our styling workshops are the perfect way to celebrate the season and something we love to present.
My next event was the Spring Fair at The Walled Garden in Nottingham. Such a beautiful venue located on a private golf club. I have been helping the Walled Garden to present these events for 4 years now, the time has flown by, they have a very special place in my working calendar.
In the Summer I launched my Derbyshire Guide, a printed booklet full of my favourite places, shops and makers in and around the County. I’ve been producing the annual guide for around 5 years… when I changed my website to be more of a lifestyle blog and moved away from the Derbyshire directory format, the Guide replaced the directory… Derbyshire is full of great independent businesses that need to be championed, I’m lucky to live in a wonderfully creative County.
On 1st July was the Summer Market and marked the 10th anniversary of my business… I can’t believe it has been 10 years. It doesn’t seem long ago when I was holding my first event, the time has flown by. The events for me are a real showcase of the fabulous independent small businesses we have the pleasure to shop with.
In September I ran another Creative Business Workshops focused on making the most of the festive season for a small independent business. Held at the very gorgeous Haarlem Mill in Wirksworth, Derbsyhire, I was joined by a group of creative business owners who all presented sessions where they shared their experience and expertise. Such a great evening & a great kick start for the Winter season.
Then came the big one, the Christmas Market! After months of planning and preparation, the doors of The Roundhouse were opened and the two day festive event began. With 120 stallholders and thousands of visitors joining us over the weekend, the event was a great success.
This time of year is my busiest and involves lots of busy days, late nights, help from family & friends and coffee! The weekend following the Christmas Market is the Christmas Fair at The Walled Garden in Nottingham. This year was the busiest for this event, such a great.
The craziness continues and it’s onto the School of Christmas festive lifestyle workshops. A collaboration between me and Klara from Birds in the Attic where we present workshops over 3 days in the prettiest of spaces in Derbyshire.
To finish off my working year was Deck the Halls at Haarlem Mill. An evening Christmas shopping event I organised along side Birds in the Attic. The evening was a great success and the perfect way to bring the working year to a close.
A big thank you to all the stallholders who have joined me at events this year and to each and every visitor for supporting the events. Next year I begin with the Spring Market on Sunday 24th March at The Roundhouse. Click here for full information.
Wishing you a wonderful Christmas and a very happy New Year!
