The Larder on Goosegate aim to deliver good, honest, British food using local produce served in a relaxing, unpretentious atmosphere and they achieve exactly that.
I love it at The Larder, I have been lucky enough to eat there a few times since they opened in 2006 and the passion from Ewan and his team is evident.
Housed in a Grade II listed building which was originally home to Boots the Chemist, it has been beautifully restored and furnished with comfortable, traditional furniture which gives the restaurant a really lovely atmosphere, however, there is no denying that it is all about the food.
Ingredients are locally sourced where possible, Goats Cheese from Cropwell Bishop and Beer from the heart of the City, if sourced from out of the Midlands, their aim is to use independent, British producers and the menu is always full of seasonal produce. Here is just a few of their delicious dishes;
Shetland Mussels, Saffron, Mustard and Spring Onions
Cotswold White Chicken, Watercress Sauce and Jersey Royals
Braised Beef Cheek, Horseradish Mash and Stuffed Spring Cabbage
Rhubarb and Seville Orange Trifle.
Ewan’s menu includes a huge range of steaks and imaginative vegetarian dishes, every taste is catered for ensuring your whole party will be happy.
I am so pleased to be able to share The Larder on Goosegate with you. It really is a fabulous place.
