What can I say.....The Loaf really is a fabulous independent business! I was so pleased to find it, as it sums up everything my website is about. The Loaf is a great eatery hidden away in Crich offering fantastic baked bread, cakes and savories, they serve great coffee and a range of local products in their deli. I'm jealous of those living in Crich....I wish there was a Loaf where I live!
The Loaf is a busy and vibrant artisan bakery, delicatessen and café in Crich selling a wide range of specialist bakery products, home made café food and deli-style groceries. They make bread, cakes, pizzas, pies, quiches, salads, hot and cold snacks, soups and a whole load more deliciously irresistible, top-quality goodies. Most of what they serve is made from scratch and contains no additives or preservatives.
Owners, Andrew & Roger, carried out a survey recently in Crich Area Community News from which they found out all sorts of useful information about what people living nearby want from The Loaf. You can read about some of the things we learned by visiting their website.
A wide and ever increasing range of breads and cakes are produced at The Loaf. All the breads are additive and preservative free, suitable for vegans and most are a simple combination of flour, water, yeast and a small amount of salt. Their range of breads includes white bread, brown breads, French breads, sour dough and rye breads.
The Loaf offer their own special coffee blend and a great ranges of teas to enjoy with their light lunches which include jacket potatoes, salads and daily hot savouries.

We gave Wednesday Pizza Night a try last night and it was fabulous! Delicious food, great choice and lovely people. The switch from daytime cafe to evening bistro with candles on tables created a great ambience. Well done Andrew and Roger, we'll definately be back!

We tend to stick to the same places so this was a welcome change for us, liked it so much, can't wait to go back. Wendy from Heanor 20/2/2010

We moved from London to Whatstandwell near Crich several years ago and The Loaf opening means we now have a trendy cafe/bakery right on our doorstep. The cakes and bread are superb, especially the 5 seeded sourdough and the interesting rye range. And such friendly staff. Hoorah!!! Cafe culture in Crch.

We have just had our first taste of 'The Loaf', having bought some of their absolutely delicious mince pies from their stall at the Fabulous Places Christmas Market. Having tasted the great quality of food that they have to offer, we shall certainly be making a detour to visit their bakery and cafe next time we are near Crich. ps. Full marks to the Christmas Market for a great atmosphere, super quality produce and lots to see and do. A brilliant start to Christmas. Hope its on again next year!

After reading so many great reviews for The Loaf I Have been meaning to visit myself. My husband & I stopped of for lunch on our way to "Vintage and Cake". The leek flan was gorgeous and my husbands broccoli and stilton soup was delicious. We left with some lovely sesame rye bread and chorizo which we used with quails eggs from the wee fruit & veg shop across the road. We would thoroughly recommend this wee gem of a place. 29/09/09

We have been lacking in a good bakery in the area so I'm really pleased that The Loaf has filled the gap. The Ciabatta is superb and the custard tarts are amazing. You can even follow their news on Twitter!

We first tried some bread from The Loaf at the FP event at Shottle Hall and loved it. We've tried a few things since then and found that everything is really nice. A great place for fresh bread, good coffee and unfortunately for my waistline GORGEOUS cakes and much much more!
