The Bottlekiln is an old converted pottery housing a Buttery Cafe, gallery, card and gift shop, homewares and contemporary crafts. I’m a big fan of the cafe, with the homemade cakes, pies, quiche and fresh coffee, it’s a great place to meet up with friends for lunch.
The Bottlekiln stocks an array of gifts and home wares, ranging from Spaceform and Crabtree & Evelyn to Emma Bridgewater and East of India. If you’re looking for a special gift or a treat for yourself, The Bottlekiln is definitely the place to go. What I like the most are the displays, all the products are displayed with incredible detail, from the delightful entrance and Japanese garden to the personalised coffee cups. The Bottlekiln undoubtedly deserves the Stamp of Approval, they tick all the boxes!
The Bottlekiln also showcase the work of artists and crafters in their gallery, which also forms part of the eatery. To be able to look at the pieces peacefully, it is recommended you avoid lunchtimes as it can be very busy.
The Bottlekiln has received the award for Best gift retailer of jewellery in the UK 2008, they were finalists for Best Independent Card Retailer, Midlands & Wales 2008 and the Buttery Cafe was Joint National Winner of the BSA Best Beverage Experience Award 2007, which doesn't come as a surprise at all, it really is a special place. I love this place. I love browsing in the shop and having coffee (which is some of the best I have tasted) and cake in the cafe.

I found out about the bottlekiln at the Summer Fete and decided to head over there with a friend a week or so later. What an absolutely gorgeous place!

We discovered the bottlekiln a few years back. The shops are great for those special cards and gifts which you usually have to buy online. Sadly a lot of the well known brands are ££ more than anywhere else. Snug cafe with helpful staff. Lovely coffee but again the cakes are overpriced, £3.90 you wouldn't pay that in Paris. Sadly I think this prices many people out of enjoying homemade food. This is Derbyshire but only for those on a high income.

I've been visiting the bottlekiln for many years now and it never fails to impress, from its gorgeous outside terrace area to its fanatstic range of gifts and ideas. I have never failed to find the perfect gift on every occasion I have visited. The only very small downside can be parking at very busy times but otherwise this place is juat fantastic!

It must be our favourite as we return again and again ... If it's peace and quiet you're searching for, then here it is in the Japanese garden - a sheltered paradise for eating those delectable desserts; winter warmers with a buzz in the art gallery surroundings or luxury shopping in three distinct areas!

I love going to the bottle kiln, I enjoy the whole experience, the shops are so special and fun to browse and the food is delicious. My one negative is they run out of the food pretty quick, so be prepared if you're going mid afternoon that there may be nothing left!!!

I've been going to the bottle kiln for several years now...i love it!It's a superb place to visit...although parking is getting a bit of a nightmare sometimes... even so, well worth popping in for lunch or just to browse the gifts for sale.

The bottle Kiln serves excellent food and drinks. My partner and I regularly pop in for a latte. The quiet garden is fab in the summer and a real peaceful oasis. The gift shop sells unusual pieces and something to suit everyone. I recommend the Bottle Kiln to anyone.

If you need to Treat yourself-I have no hesitation to recommend that you should pop in to the bottlekiln. Whether it's for a nosey round the beautiful gifts, to have a coffee and a cherry scone or a bite for lunch. It was also funny I had had a gift voucher from The Bottlekiln for my Birthday last year from my sister- I noticed that they had a website up and running , I looked at who designed it as I was looking into getting a website created for my own business-I'm pleased to say I have a website up and running now ,designed by the same company-So I would like to say Thank you to the Bottlekiln for helping to make my dream come true! I have been going to the bottle kiln for years for cards and presents and occasionally - something for me. It never fails to disappoint. My only complaint - they sell out of the pies to quickly!

I'm so lucky I live close to this place and can visit quite often. The food is fabulous, especially the home-made quiches and the gift shop has very unusual cards and individual gifts. Parking can be tight and you wonder where you're going to sit to eat, but amazingly it all seems to work. A great place to meet your girlie friends for a special lunch.

This place is amazing. It sells all kind of gifts and trinkets and gorgeous jewellery and is the perfect place to get a present for the "impossible to buy for" person. The food is homemade and delicious - the quiche is to die for. To give a completely balanced view – car parking can be tight but I think you can park in the church cap park next door. It’s not ideal for wheelchair users – steps up to the cafe and space is generally tight and the cafe (although the food is to die for) is a little pricy. Definitely worth a visit though – you won’t be disappointed.

After browsing the site we decided to try out the bottlekiln for lunch. The building itself is fabulous and a great place to find an unusual gift. The menu is limited but what they do offer is homemade and delicious. We had the vegetable and stilton pie eaten in the gorgeous quit garden at the back. Worth a visit!

I first visited the Bottle Kiln when I was a Student nurse at the local GP's, the Practice Nurses took me for lunch on my last day - what a joy, this place was a hidden treasure to me and I'm so thankful to them for taking me there - I've been back many times on a regular girlie lunch with a very good friend, and also with my Mum - the Food is amazing (I highly recommend the mixed salad and quiche) and you can always pick up some fabulous greeting cards for those special occasions too - well worth a visit and I promise you'll definitely go back!

This is a lovely place to visit for - coffee and eats, gifts, gallery, and the japanese style garden. Called here after visiting West Hallam to view the well dressings. All in all a lovely day out - would recommend it!!

Special places like the Bottlekiln are rare, I absolutely love it. I often take friends and family there for food. I love that the cafe serves their food on Emma Bridgewater plates!

Last week I was searching for a wedding present for a couple who got married on Saturday. I didn't want to just give them money for their honeymoon (that's for aunties and friends of the parents to do!). But I had no idea what to get, so Deb took me to the Bottlekiln with the promise of lunch - how could I refuse?! I found a delightful multi photo frame for them pretty much as soon as I had walked in (well, that is after I got distracted by the Duck Company wooden ducks and Emma Bridgewater collections). Over the other side of the kiln (the whole thing really IS in an old bottle kiln!), I soon found a fantastic card and Cath Kidston gift bag to put it all in, so it was then on to my main objective - lunch! AND WHAT A LUNCH! I had a pie with stilton ham and leeks,I think it was. It was so so so good I didn't want to stop eating it! Afterwards, to walk off our lunch we wandered outside to the little "Quiet Garden", which is a real haven of peace and tranquility. Deb even took my profile pic there and for the first time in my life I actually like a piccie of me - says more about the setting than anything else, I think!
