I was delighted to discover Rudd Moncrieff Lifestyle Workshops recently, what a find! I love the idea of attending a workshop in a gorgeous Old Vicarage, which dates back to 1826. The selection of workshops that are on offer here are extensive, informative and a true inspiration, and to top it all if what you fancy isn’t on their website, you can contact them and they’re more than happy to offer a completely bespoke service and create a day or package just for you, where else do you get this service in the Midlands. All the workshops take place at The Old Vicarage, where you can enjoy the stunning grounds and meet new people. A full list of upcoming workshops can be found on the Rudd Moncrieff website (link above). Not only do they offer lifestyle workshops, they’re a fabulous venue for parties for little ones and adults all on offer by special arrangement with the owner.
Owner, Dawn-Elizabeth Rudd, who lives at The Old Vicarage, on the fringes of the peak district just outside the beautiful market town of Ashbourne, set within 4 acres of mature gardens and 26 acres of paddocks, runs the Rudd Moncrieff Lifestyle business with her business partner Judy Scott-Moncrieff, they specialise in cookery, gardening, gift wrapping, style and interior style advice and flower arranging classes for all, whether you are a novice or a professional, the environment is a relaxed one and the emphasis is particularly on building confidence and teaching young and mature pupils a life skill whilst having fun. She keeps hens (various breeds) and miniature ponies, and lives here with her springer spaniel called Molly, she also has two children Lily who is 12 and Oliver who is 11. Rudd Moncrieff Workshops are perfect if you would like to learn how to cook a certain dish, bake bread, put on a quintessentially British picnic or fancy trying something completely new. There really is something available for everyone whatever your age or interests. It makes an ideal birthday gift, Christmas gift or just a nice day out for someone you care about. Through popular demand, there are plans to extend the workshop to include a very modern day finishing school for teenagers and those moving on to further education by the end of the year.

Between us, my wife and I have attended around 4 workshops, and they are an education. Dawn and Judy demonstrate how easy it is to cook and entertain well, provided the preparation and equipment are right. Great recipes and great ideas (sometimes so simple you can't believe you didn't know it aleady). The company is also very good, so good that you may end up missing bits of the presentation - so don't be afraid to go right up to where Dawn is doing the preparation and cooking and see it all at very close range. The lunch, which consists of the dishes cooked in the demonstration, is worth the money alone, and wine is freely available. Stand out from the crowd when you entertain or cook for others - go for it!!

I have been on numerous of Dawn and Judy"s workshops with my mum. We are both keen cooks and enjoy new recipes. All of their recipes are fail safe and I have used them again and again. I can highly recommend any of the workshops and my mum now asks for when I have time to go again! I will never buy a creme brulee again after finding out how easy it is to make!

Just attended my fourth or fifth workshop. My family demanded that as modern man I extend the menu offered to them and this time it was to be BBQ, which appeals to the primitive incinerating instincts in males. What a disappointment, barbecued chicken, lamb and beef were all presented tender and moist through marinading, when they should have been black, crisp and sinewy. There were also delicious cold soups and two superb desserts. Very good value and inspiring for entertainment cooking too.

Anybody with an interest in cooking, either for family or dinner parties will be inspired. I have attended around five workshops and have cooked many of the delicious recipies. With a very warm welcome from Dawn and Judy, plenty of delicious Rudd Moncrieff coffee, a glass of wine and tasting all the food that has been cooked, a really wonderful treat!

A truly gorgeous day out at the stunning Old Vicarage in Shirley with the wonderful, funny, informative and welcoming hosts of Dawn Elizabeth and Judy. The Autumn supper's workshop provided a spendid array of simple, hearty and delicious meals to recreate at home and enjoy as the nights got shorter. Recommended highly to anyone who has a passion for cooking!!
