I stumbled upon the Riverside Herb Centre on our way back from lunch at Colemans Deli. As soon as I notice the sign, I remembered that an FP Club member emailed me recommending the Cafe, so in I went!
The Riverside Herb Centre is very much a hidden gem. There's a deli, food and herb shop and cafe offering something for every taste.
The cafe offers a great selection of sandwiches, homemade cakes, salads and great coffees all in a relaxing atmosphere. I particularly like the bird tables outside the cafe window....definitely something wonderful to watch over coffee and cake!
The shop and deli have a surprising selection of foods to take home, including cured meats, olives, cheeses, tea pigs, pasta, chocolates, bread...the list goes on! Outside the shop is a selection of potted herbs, which you can purchase and take home to start your own herb garden.
The Riverside Herb Garden is a new venture for the owners, Simon & Beverley. It's obvious to see that they have a real passion for great food and I wish them great success!

I took my daughter here after being turned away from the Walnut Restaurant in Hathersage. We were so pleased. We had a lovely lunch looking out on to the bird-table with blue tits, great tits, a wren and a robin lunching too. The shop is gorgeous and the people who serve you are really pleasant. Thank you for a lovely time. x
Wow! What a great deli!

Having read about this place on fabulous places, we decided to give it a try. What a surprise to find such an amazing deli on our doorstep. Went home with several purchases. We are planning to visit the cafe next time as the cakes looked delicious and we loved the bird tables just outside the window.
Trip to Hathersage

Decided to take a trip to Hathersage by train and on to Riverside herb centre. After a long hike arrived 30 minutes later. Good selection of plants and tearoom very busy but staff very helpful. Enjoyed coffee and views of the birdtable will need bird book on next visit.

Just returned from a lovely coffee and scone at Riverside. A beautiful setting and a great selection of gifts including an extensive range of beautiful Dunoon mugs.
There is a sign in the shop asking for help as it would appear that Peak Park are challenging their right to trade there and the end result could be that they may be forced to close. That would be a real shame as they have a great business and are clearly very devoted to it. I will be writing to them as per their request for support. I'd also encourage anyone else who enjoys the Riverside experience to do the same.

We went to Riverside after reading over it on here. The photos definitely helped...it's a lovely surprise, not what you expect to find from the outside. I went home with some amazing olives, which didn't actually make it home!
JUST WHAT THE AREA NEEDS

Riverside Herb Centre re-opened in May 2008 under new ownership. It fills a gap in the local area providing high quality food and drinks (especially the cappuccino and speciality teas) - light hot and cold snacks and sandwiches are freshly prepared in front of you by the owner and served by friendly, local staff. Enjoy a browse round the shop whilst waiting or before leaving for a wide range of delicatessen and other unusual items. Highly recommended.
just lovely!

Again, I have found another great place to go for coffee and cake thanks to this website....keep them coming! Riverside is lovely and my favourite of all is the bird table....how lovely it is to sit with a coffee whilst watching the birds, such a great idea! The shop also stocks such great products!
