Housed in an old basement, just behind St Ann's Crescent, it's worth foraging around the Roman spa town of Buxton for Project X, and not just for the fun of the chase.
Home-made food, drinks and cocktails are their speciality, and the staff take great pride in service and produce.
Project X say: "We make everything from scratch on site and that includes bread, muffins, bara brith (fat-free Welsh tea bread) and smoothies, too. The owners wanted to do something totally different from what's available elsewhere in Buxton, selling sophisticated drinks, and sourcing organic and local foods."
Project X is a unique place to place to go for coffee, lunch or an evening outing. I've been told by many people in Buxton that Project X is THE place to go. It is highly recommended by locals.

Project X really know how to do paninis! They come wrapped in raffia! They are so, so nice!

I'm always amazed by how good the food is here. I once saw shopping bags being brought in from Morrison's and just marveled at how such everyday ingredients can be transformed into something otherworldy! The staff are friendly if a bit overwhelmed at busy times.
They also have free wifi and lovely decor. What more could you ask for?
X is the best!

Like the lovely Linda I too often begin my days in Project X for my much needed wake me up cappuccino! I also finish many of my days there with something a tad more alcoholic too! It is just like Cheers, well said!
Debo.

Just so good!

Project X is my first stop every morning on the way to work and I just couldn't start the morning any other way - not only is the coffee gorgeous but its a bit like Cheers - such a fab atmosphere where everyone stops to have a good chat or a moan - depending on your mood and you walk out feeling ready to start your day. Its not one of those places just "for local people" in a weird League of Gentlemen way - its just got a very chilled out ambience and friendly staff. PS The hot chocolate brownies are indecently gorgeous and don't get me started on the hand cut chips with balsamic vinegar...
The only place to go in Buxton

I have been going to Project X for many years, and it has all right attributes for a coffee shop.
