Callula Glass is designed and handcrafted in Cheshire by Designer-Maker Joanne Taylor and features seasonal collections of decorative and functional fused glass for the home. Each collection includes several pieces, designed to work individually or mixed and matched in a room setting.
Modern interior and graphic design, as well as historical design movements, particularly the grid formations of the De Stijl movement influence Joanne. Inspiration is also taken from the intricate details which make up a familiar object; something that you may only notice by zooming in close. Callula is a Latin name meaning 'little beauty' which us the pre-requisite for each design.
Each piece is designed, cut and shaped by hand and assembled in the kiln, ready for a series of fusing and slumping programmes, sometimes taking over 40 hours! Due to the nature of fused glass, no two pieces are exactly identical. Slight variances should be embraced as a sign of the handcrafted provenance of the piece, making it unique, tactile and collectable. Commissions are welcome.
